WHO WE ARE
We are a community of cyclists riding to raise funds for social and community impact projects across the Dominican Republic.
Our goal is to provide basic amenities that create a healthy and safe environment for our children to stay active, have fun, and improve their social skills.
La Vuelta Quisqueya is a fundraising event organized by the ALES Foundation; an NGO established in 2019 with the aim of making a difference in the lives of Dominican children. We are helping our children gain a more meaningful childhood through better education and a more engaging extracurricular social life.
EVENTS
2019
La Vuelta Quisqueya bike rides is an annual event for fun and not a competition. It is a ride for the prize of helping our kids live a more fulfilling life. 2019 Participation was great, and it gave riders a chance to challenge themselves, get fit, and fund a great cause.
Participants of the 2019 cycling event were placed in groups of six and expected to ride together all through the 500km journey from Punta Cana to our destination.
The average distance per day was 100km for five (5) days, and after each day’s ride through the countryside en route to our destination, participants were treated to nice local dishes and great accommodation at our pitstops for the night’s rest.
2020
2020’s event though disrupted by the pandemic, still went on with minimal hitches. We stayed true to our commitment to helping children and poor communities in the Dominican Republic with social impact projects that make life more enjoyable for them.
The pandemic had made things even more difficult for the already impoverished population who were now reaching their breaking limit, and this was why our project in 2020 was aimed at putting bread on their tables.
2021
La Vuelta Quisqueya once again had to be cancelled. We felt that the safety of the riders and the communities that we are visiting is too important. The conditions were not favorable to hold a successful event that everyone involved would have a great experience. We are planning an even bigger event for 2022 by increasing the experience and the impact on the riders and the communities that our work will be helping.
Our playground building project is a great opportunity to bring Dominican communities together and spark the excitement of having a place where children and families can play, bond together, and have fun. Playground activities allow kids to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills; it teaches them teamwork, sharing, conflict resolution and helps them build the confidence to face challenges while staying physically fit. Not to forget the joy and happy memories kids can create as they socialize with friends and spend outdoor time with family.
When you make a commitment to become a part of La Vuelta Quisqueya’s mission, whether as a rider or a sponsor, you are creating an immense impact on the future of a child.
The funds you raise will go directly into the education and upbringing of these children as well as the building of social impact projects for poor communities in the Dominican Republic. This is your chance to make a real impact in the lives of children; join us today, and be a part of our journey to creating a hopeful future for our children.
